Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Iris ("the Service"), operated by Lonia AI ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

Iris is a real-time ASL-English translation tool that provides speech-to-text transcription, ASL dictionary, signing avatar, and learning tools. The Service is provided "as is" and is designed to facilitate communication — it is not a substitute for professional interpretation services.

2. Account Terms

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • Accounts are created via OAuth (Google or Microsoft). We do not store passwords.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your OAuth account.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • One person or entity may not maintain more than one free account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Create accounts through automated means
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
  • Use the Service in any way that violates the rights of others

4. Subscription & Billing

  • Free tier features are available without payment.
  • Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact admin@lonia.ai for refund requests.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, content, and ASL dictionary data, is the intellectual property of Lonia AI. You retain ownership of your conversation data. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

6. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described therein.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Speech-to-text or translation accuracy will be perfect
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements

Iris is a communication aid, not a certified interpretation service. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, or emergency communication where accuracy is critical.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lonia AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lonia AI, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms.
  • Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New Jersey.
